Southwestern Texas Synod LMM Projects
|
LCM Conference Room : The LMM at an Annual Assembly agreed to raise $10,00 to furnish the
Conference Room in the LCM. It took 3 years to complete the project but the project was completed. If
you happen to be in Seguin when the LCM is open stop by and see how nice the room looks.
Cross Trails Ministry Building Support: The LMM at the 2003 Annual Assembly agreed to raise
$10,000 and donate it to the Cross Trails Ministry for new buildings or to repair existing buildings at the
campsites. As of the last Executive Committee meeting we were still $2,643. St Paul's Lutheran Church
which is hosting this years assembly agreed to dedicate the donation received during the worship
service to clear up this obligation.
Swing Project: This is an ongoing project where each year we ask LMM groups attending the
assembly to bring a swing or a couple of swings if they can build them to the assembly. Then the host
church finds Assisted Living Homes in the area and donates the swings to them. The first attempt
resulted in 10 swings being given to Assisted Living Homes in the San Antonio Area. The interest for
this project is becoming more intense. Starting with the February 2007 Assembly there will a
presentation made of a plaque to the congregation which brings the most swings to the Assembly. The
plaque will then be passed on the next year to the congregation which brings the most. The end goal of
this project is to make sure that every assisted living Home in the Southwestern Synod has a swing built
for them by one of our congregations Lutheran Men in Mission groups. It is being called "Swinging with
Karl".
To find plans for the swings, should you like to make a set, you can click here or on the picture of the
swings below. When you go to deliver the swings you will need a copy of the INDEMNIFICATION AND
DISCLAIMER, completed and signed by the Nursing/Assisted Living Home which you will then forward to
the President for filing. You can download or print a copy of the form here.
Funding for the project can be requested from Thrivent, using the Care Abounds in Communities
Program. You will need to contact your Thrivent Congregational Coordinator and ask them to complete
the required paperwork, and ensure you have at least six Thrivent members to work on the project with
you to receive this funding. If you have questions you can call any of the Board Members.
