Dear Brother in Christ,

According to a study done by the Search Institute, only 8% of adult men have a Christian faith they can share
with others. But the continued prayer, work and investment in men's ministry by men like you is helping to
change that. This is the time of year when we are most aggressive about helping congregations develop
ministries that will reach men for Christ, and we need your help.

We are currently producing three major emphases designed to bring men into a deeper walk with Jesus Christ
and assist them in bringing their friends and family along with them.

* We are helping leaders in 1,000 congregations build new, vibrant men's ministries by sharing the Master
Builders Bible for Men, with it's Leadership Supplement, with them.
* Our coast to coast mini gatherings will start this fall and continue into the spring. These are one day events
that will inspire individuals and train those attending to reach the men in their families and communities for
Christ.
* Our ground breaking work with young men will continue as men 18-34, and those who desire to connect with
them, gather at the Lake of the Ozarks for "Road Trip II" this fall.

Our outreach to men is very ambitious to say the least- but for the sake of the men in our families and
congregations, this work is urgent. And as we move toward our 2008 goal of separate incorporation with a
strong relationship to the church, and to be completely self funded, your prayers and financial support are
critical.

Would you please 1) continue to pray for this ministry and 2) prayerfully consider sharing a gift? You can
share that gift in one of two ways: 1) On-line through the ELCA Gift basket on our web page,
www.elca.org/lmm or 2) sending it to the address below. I thank you so much for your partnership in this vital
work!

PS: With your support this month, thousands of men will experience a deeper walk with Christ- and bring
others on the journey with them.

Gentleman,

LMM synod had a good day today!  Just had an e-mail from  Pr. Tim.  He has a  commitment from Pastor
Sean Forde to be the lead program/ speaker. We will get details from Sean.  His forte is younger men's
ministry and has walked the walk, not just talked the talk.

Now another "God works in a mysterious way"  story.   This morning Mr. Ted Erwin ( fairly new member at St.
Pauls) came to the men's breakfast meeting with a swing on a trailer behind his SUV. This the latest
improved version of  "The Swing".   Mr. Irwin has fine wood working shop at his home and we have shining
new model.

The swing moved from the trailer to my van, then to Faith Lutheran parking lot in Seguin.   Pr. Tim was not
there, so my friend  "Crash" long-time secretary at Faith is getting the  plack, synod's legal disclaimer,
instructions, etc. and she is trying to understand this completely new to her  "Swing with Karl" project.

As Crash starts to make a list of potential recipients, in comes the senior pastor. Up to this point we have
been unable to detect his interest in LMM.  He knew there was one swing there already and he liked it.   Also
he thought there would be a LMM meeting there this winter.  I assured him that he was correct.

He took the papers from Crash, helped me unload the swing. Immediately he choose the prime potential
recipients and wanted to know if they had to wait till the meeting to make the donations.  I said "pastor, what
ever works for you, works for LMM"   (He does not know it yet but another one will show up shortly.)

We were blessed this morning.

Lets keep on "Swinging with Karl".
